University of Guam Marine Lab

The primary mission of the Marine Laboratory faculty is basic and applied research on the biology of tropical marine organisms, with emphasis on the conservation and development of marine resources of the near-shore waters of Guam and Micronesia. Graduate and undergraduate students play an important role in these research activities. Community service is promoted through the activities of a Marine Extension Agent, the research faculty, and graduate students.

Visitors will find a handy set of tide-tables for Guam available.



The Biodiversity of Guam & the Marianas Islands

The Marine Biodiversity Survey of Guam and the Marianas is a collaborative effort between the Florida Museum of Natural History and the University of Guam Marine Laboratory. The purpose of this survey is to document the marine life of these islands. The first product of the survey was volume 35-36 of the journal Micronesica, published in July 2003.



Conchologists of AmericaThe Conchologists of America, better known as COA, is a society for shell enthusiasts from all walks of life, at all levels of interest. Founded in 1972, this international organization is well known for its annual conventions, quarterly magazine (American Conchologist), and listserver (Conch-L) for shell collectors. The American Malacological SocietyA dynamic international society of individuals and organizations with an active interest in the study and conservation of mollusks. Professional malacologists, students, and people devoted to observing, photographing, and learning about mollusks belong to AMS (formerly the American Malacological Union).



The Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum Founded in 1984, its mission is "to educate about shells and mollusks, the shell-makers, through exhibits, educational programs, library services and publications;  to further awareness of nature and the natural environment; and to promote collection-based research on shells and mollusks with emphasis on Southwest Florida and the Gulf of Mexico."



Academy of Natural Sciences of Philedelphia, Malacology Dept.This website is worth a visit. Includes an on-line database of species for the Indo-Pacific and the Atlantic.



Ohio State University, Division of MollusksThe mission of the Mollusc Division is teaching, research and service through the use of collections of specimens, literature and related data. As needs arise and opportunities become available the emphasis on teaching or research or service changes so as to achieve maximal productivity of the staff and faculty. The scope of interest is both fossil and recent, local and world-wide; but the collections are richest in North American, European or Asiatic faunas.
